AUSSIEHOME.COM did
well to beat a high-turnover business such as AdultShop.com in the 2000
IT&T Awards Best New Innovation in E-Commerce category - especially
given the company has only been around for six months.
Aussiehome.com was officially launched in December 1999 as a
web-based local information company, providing Perth home buyers with an
online portal to property sites.
The portal includes suburb price trends, online directories,
regularly updated sales data and virtual online tours that allow
prospective buyers to see a 360-degree view of a property room by room.
Schools, hospitals and other facilities are on the maps along with
coloured icons showing homes for sale or rent.
Aussiehome.com has already covered 238 suburbs in the Perth
metropolitan area.
The company made the web site deliberately local, covering suburbs
in textured detail rather
|
than thin, blanket coverage.
Aussiehome.com claims to be one of two agencies in Perth selling
suburb by suburb Valuer General property sales information.
This service has just been launched and users can buy up to 110
records for $30.
the Council on the Ageing's directory has been added to the
homepage so the elderly can search for more than 2,000 organisations that
specialise in elderly services.
Ex-Hale School commerce teacher and co-founder Charlie Gunningham
said winning the award was "the icing on the cake... especially
against such tough competition".
"The site is not just useful - it's great fun zooming in and
out of the maps, viewing the properties alongside local schools, sports
centres and golf courses," Mr Gunningham said.
